King Bhoja wanted poets to write a poem using Ka Kha Ga and Gha, the first four consonants. Seems one illiterate (nirakshara kutchi - one who does not know even one character) prayed to Kali for knowledge. Walking on the road, he heard coversation between two persons. He was just repeating it and that became a poem, appreciated by the King. Thus he became a poet, Kalidasa (Common name or title). This is Similar to valmiki

'வெல்' verb meaning win, became noun object 'வேல்' . For war, Tamil use etti or lance, which is cylindrical one. Vel is for kings and generals, royalty symbol. Vel represents wisdom (sharp mind, broad knowledge, long deep knowledge). It has 2 sides, indicating two views for anything. wisdom is to consider both sides or both view points. syntheis (truth) = thesis+antithesis

Saivam [To TOP]
அன்பு பொருந்திய, அறந்தழுவிய, அருள்நலங்கனிந்த வாழ்க்கை முறை ஸைவம். (சுத்த) அறிவே சிவம். அன்பே முக்கிய பண்பு. Some refer Saivam to Vegetarianism, living with out harming any life
1) உள்ளிலிருந்து ஆட்டுவது சிவம்
உணராது ஆடுவது சவம்
சவத்தை விட்டது சிவம்
கதையை முடித்தது சிவம்
Siva residing inside, makes one to dance/move.
We (bodies) may dance with out recognizing siva inside.
Once siva leaves, no movement, body left is a corpse.
Thus siva ends one's story.
2) ஆத்ம விசாரம் ஸைவ சித்தாந்தம்
சிவத்தை உணர்ந்ததும் சிவம்.
உணர்ந்தவர்க்கும் உணராதவர்க்கும் உள்ளிருப்பது ஒரே சிவம்
நம்பினவர்க்கும் நம்பாதவர்க்கும் ஒரே சிவம்
Saiva scriptures/texts are enquiries about truth or real you. It is a journey.
Sivam is a feeling or wisdom that "real self is sivam".
Whether one realizes or not, what is inside everyone is sivam.
Whether one believes or not, name given to real thing inside (or every where) is sivam
*sivam is name given. No issue in calling what one feels like (even name it NO GOD or Nobody?).
3) மாறிக்கொண்டே இருப்பது பிரபஞ்சம்
மாற்றிக் கொண்டே இருப்பது சிவம்
ஆதியும் அந்தமும் இல்லாத சிவம்
அறிந்ததும் அறியாததும் சிவம்
Universe/Multiverse is constantly changing/evolving.
Everything is in constant flux
Siva is the one who keeps everything in flux
Shiva has no beginning and no end
All knowledge (known and unknown) is sivam.
4) அறுதி உண்மையே சிவம்
அடக்கமான அறந்தழுவிய அறிவே சிவம்
அன்பே சிவமென ஆணவமின்றி வாழும்
அன்பான வாழ்க்கை முறை ஸைவம்
Absolutely truth is siva. Siva is humble/unassuming form for (ethics confirmed) knowledge. Compassionate living without arrogance or ego. with Loving lifestyle is saivite philosophy.
5) அன்பே சிவம்! ஸர்வம் சிவமயம்!
Compassion is Siva. Everywhere siva or divinity fills (or felt)
Anbe sivam>
அன்பே சிவம்! எங்கும் சிவமயம்! எதிலும் சிவமயம்! சர்வமும் சிவமயம்!
Shiva and compassion are same or interchangeable. Every where Shiva! In everything Shiva! All are Shiva!

(இப்) பேரின்பம் மேல் அடைவதற்கு ஒன்றுமில்லை
ஒன்றுமில்லை, சிவனைத்தவிர என்பதே அத்வைதம்
அத்வைதம் மெய்ப்பிக்கும் தத்துவமே அன்பு
Bliss is understanding that Compassion/Love is GOD. Nothing more to be attained than this. "Everything (including we) is nothing but Shiva" is advaitha (monism). Love is practicing advaitha.
(2) அன்பென்ற சிவமே எங்கும் இருப்பது
இருப்பதை மறைக்கும் அழுக்கே மாயை
மாயையை அகற்ற வல்லது பக்தி
பக்தி என்பது எல்லாவற்றிடமும் அன்பு
Shivam or compassion is everywhere. Impurities or Maya hides reality. Inpurities can be removed by bakthi,
which is loving all creations which are divine.
(3) யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் நண்பர்
நண்பர் உண்டு பகைவர் இல்லை
இல்லையென்று கூறாது உதவுவதே அன்பு
அன்பெனும் தத்துவம் இணைக்கும் யாதும்
All places are my home and all are friends. I have Only friends, No enemies. Love is not refusing when you can help anyone. This will unite all of us. *சிவம் can be replaced with கடவுள் ப்ரஹ்மம் etc

Two were quarreling and only saint was the witness. Police/judge asks the saint what happened. Saint does not say anything except சிவ. For him all including actions and objects are shiva

Vittala - Purandara Dasa
Srinivasa Nayaka (15th and 16th century) was well educated in Kannada, Sanskrit, and sacred music. He inherited his father's rich business of gemstones and prospered. He lost part of his wealth and even his life was in danger, by invaders. He went to Krishnadeva raya for help and advise. He was told only music/bajan, can unite various suffering hindu groups. Only United Hindus can stop the invasions and protect the land and its people. He realised the situation that no one can help and his wealth is of no use when life is in danger. He gave away all his wealth for supporting devotional activities, to unite people.
Purandara Dasa fought the evils of castes through his songs (no inequalities among men and women). He asked people to give up attachments and do their best for everyone. His strength comes perhaps from the support of his guru Vyasathirtha with the backing of king Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara. ஒன்றுமில்லை, சிவனைத்தவிர என்பதே அத்வைதம்
அத்வைதம் மெய்ப்பிக்கும் தத்துவமே அன்பு
Bliss is understanding that Compassion/Love is GOD. Nothing more to be attained than this. "Everything (including we) is nothing but Shiva" is advaitha (monism). Love is practicing advaitha.
(2) அன்பென்ற சிவமே எங்கும் இருப்பது
இருப்பதை மறைக்கும் அழுக்கே மாயை
மாயையை அகற்ற வல்லது பக்தி
பக்தி என்பது எல்லாவற்றிடமும் அன்பு
Shivam or compassion is everywhere. Impurities or Maya hides reality. Inpurities can be removed by bakthi,
which is loving all creations which are divine.
(3) யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் நண்பர்
நண்பர் உண்டு பகைவர் இல்லை
இல்லையென்று கூறாது உதவுவதே அன்பு
அன்பெனும் தத்துவம் இணைக்கும் யாதும்
All places are my home and all are friends. I have Only friends, No enemies. Love is not refusing when you can help anyone. This will unite all of us. *சிவம் can be replaced with கடவுள் ப்ரஹ்மம் etc
Story:
Two were quarreling and only saint was the witness. Police/judge asks the saint what happened. Saint does not say anything except சிவ. For him all including actions and objects are shiva

Vittala - Purandara Dasa
Srinivasa Nayaka (15th and 16th century) was well educated in Kannada, Sanskrit, and sacred music. He inherited his father's rich business of gemstones and prospered. He lost part of his wealth and even his life was in danger, by invaders. He went to Krishnadeva raya for help and advise. He was told only music/bajan, can unite various suffering hindu groups. Only United Hindus can stop the invasions and protect the land and its people. He realised the situation that no one can help and his wealth is of no use when life is in danger. He gave away all his wealth for supporting devotional activities, to unite people.
Purandara Dasa fought the evils of castes through his songs (no inequalities among men and women). He asked people to give up attachments and do their best for everyone. His strength comes perhaps from the support of his guru Vyasathirtha with the backing of king Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara. Srinivasa Nayaka became Purandara Dasa and with his supporters created a new milestone in Carnatic music.
