Human resources

Human resources devoted to R&D in 2006-07 totaled 125,771 person years of effort (PYE), an increase of 8% from 2004-05. PYE is basically same as FTE. Researchers accounted for over two thirds (69%) of the total Human resources devoted to R&D in 2006-07, at 87,269 PYE. As per ABS report in September 2009, Business human resources devoted to R&D in 2007-08 totaled 49,114 person years of effort (PYE), an increase of 6% from 2006-07.
