Malaysian Science and Technology Information Centre (MASTIC) provides access to STI information from various institutions and acting as a linking mechanism among the policy makers, fund providers, researchers/developers, the industries and end users. MASTIC acts as a linking mechanism between major players in the Malaysian S&T system. [URL: www.mastic.gov.my]
Major R&D Centres
- The Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems (or MIMOS, targeted at the electronic-based industry)
- Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) links researchers and innovators with venture capitalists and industrialists. It is a joint-venture company between the private sector and the Government.
- Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) , launched in 1993, is a non-profit company limited by guarantee. Its role is to carry out the process of prospecting and identifying business and investment opportunities for industry, to identify research priorities for public and private research initiatives, to mobilize and manage technology efforts (which are considered to be beyond the resources of individual organization), and, to provide strategic direction in the development of human resource capability.
- Malaysian Institute for Nuclear Technology Research (MINT) has been set up to expand market and diversity applications of nuclear and related technologies, to achieve excellence in research, application and management of nuclear and related technologies, and to achieve self-financing targets.
- MASTIC, is the Malaysian Science and Technology Information Center. It was commissioned in 1992 and is currently positioned within the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment (MOSTE). MASTIC is the national reference center for scientific and technological information.
- Technology Park Malaysia
Technology Park Malaysia is one of the world's most advanced and comprehensive centres for research and development for knowledge-based industries. Spanning 750 acres, its first phase comprises 12 state-of-the-art buildings with specific functions. The latest addition to Phase I is the Enterprise 4 building, which is an intelligent building designed to service the physical needs of high-tech companies, enabling them to be service providers to the MSC, the rest of Malaysia and the world.
- Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC)
MSC is the Government's first major investment in its technology-based future. The Government welcomes foreign investment of dollars and technical expertise in the MSC. Around 110 companies have been awarded MSC status requiring a commitment to support research and development and physically reside within the MSC. MSC provides infrastructural facilities and other support and incentives to attract investors. Other institutes include MIMOS, MTDC and many more.
