There are no published figures available. As per study done by, PNG University of Technology, Lae, Only 21% of companies have research and development departments, 14% had research personnel, 30% companies contacted the university on research problems and less than 3% funded any research projects in the university. Australian bilateral program with Papua New Guinea at 30 June 2004 consisted of 26 active multi-year projects with a value over their lifetime of approximately $15 million.
