HKEIA's recommendation strategies
Then following recommendations are made by the HKEIA to the government:
- The government offers grants to professors and students on innovation and technology related applied research.
- The government offers incentives to attract multi-national companies to establish R&D test labs and facilities in Hong Kong.
- The government should make a firm commitment at least on the exact fund size and time frame in support of developing local technologies. The HKEIA would also recommend that an overall industrial policy be established and closely followed by the government in support of technological innovation activities.
- The HKEIA strongly recommends the HKSAR Government to ease regulations, procedures and restrictions for import of scientific and technological resources from the Mainland to Hong Kong. It also suggests development of local talent by encouraging innovation and technological competence in schools itself.
- To encourage innovation and technology diffusion, HKEIA recommends improvements in infrastructure support, financing, protection of intellectual property and the establishment of patents database.
- To make information available to businessmen. HKEIA recommends updates on technological innovation and market data in the best manner possible.
