- Telecommunications technologies in Hong Kong such as 3G, fixed and mobile convergence, VoIP, Next Generation Networks, digital terrestrial television and radio frequency identification (RFID) equipment.
- The Hong Kong government is funding Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s efforts to advance nanotechnology in electronic manufacturing systems
- The CUHK- Elec and Eltek Technology Center was established in July 2000 in the Faculty with an aim to promote innovation, identifying niche areas and developing enabling technologies. It also acts as a reciprocal channel to enable technology transfers from the academia to the industry as well as the flow of new ideas from the industry to the academia.
- Logistics and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies is one of the 13 proposed technology areas identified by ITC as an area that will make an impact to Hong Kong, and is one of the main collaboration areas between Guangdong Province and HKSAR Government.
- Hong Kong government, US company to fund nanotechnology programme: The Hong Kong government is funding Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s efforts to advance nanotechnology in electronic manufacturing systems, the government said in August. Massachusetts-based Product Development Corporation (PTC), a NASDAQ-listed manufacturing solutions provider, is partnering with the government in the effort. PTC will provide product design and lifecycle management solutions, which will be used by HKPU to develop a design for the mass production of micro-products currently limited in commercial availability. Beside HKPU, six other universities from China, Canada, and the U.K. are collaborating in the project.
