Research & Development Expenditure

Japan's total expenditure on R&D during fiscal year (FY) 2008 stood at 18,800 billion yen, very small decrease of 0.7% compared to 18,944 billion yen during the previous fiscal year FY2007. As per OECD report, expenditure on R&D as a percentage of GDP was 3.44 percent during 2007, second highest among APEC economies after Korea.
