S&T Organizations

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is the premiere science and technology body in Philippines charged with the twin mandate of providing central direction, leadership and coordination of all scientific and technological activities, and of formulating policies, programs and projects to support national development. Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) is centered on creating a rural telecommunications network. STEdNet or the Science and Technology Education Network is a collaborative project of Philippine institutions concerned with science education whose goal is to make science education researches and statistical data easily accessible through the power of information technology.

National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) attached to the Department of Science and Technology, is the premier science and technology policy-making body of the Philippine Government. NRCP is mandated to provide assistance for the development of the research capabilities of the individual scientist and acts as an advisory body on relevant issues and problems of science and technology affecting the country. NRCP provides research grants, gives financial assistance to Ph.D/M.S. students, and travel assistance to scientists for attendance at local and international conferences. As an advisory body, the NRCP prepares position papers, resolutions, reports, policy statements, and reviews on relevant S&T issues and problems.
