Emerging Technologies
Russia has a long and distinguished history in science and technology launching the world's first space capsule-Sputnik in 1957. Currently, Russian science continues to produce new inventions in emerging high-technology areas such as navigation, space exploration, aviation, thin-film, laser optics, bio-technology, manufacturing of crystals and advanced materials, and information technology.
- Biotechnology: Research in this field has been developed in the framework of the project, 'Biocatalytic Technologies' of the Governmental subprogram,Newest methods of bioengineering. To-date, new technologies have been elaborated using enzymes in food, pulp-and-paper and textile industries as well as in agriculture.
