Engineering is the one of the most established manufacturing industry in Singapore, contributing about 25% of the country's manufacturing output. The engineering industry aims to promote integrated, multi-disciplinary capabilities and compete in the global marketplace with new applications. Singapore is currently one of the leading regional hubs for semiconductor production.
Singapore's expertise in emerging technology, including nanotechnology, micro-electromechanical systems, photonics, and industrial IT, puts it in strong position to lead technology applications in industries like the info-communications technology, biomedical sciences, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and aerospace. Besides sensors, nanotechnology and bioinformatics are some of the other areas IDA intends to focus on in the next 10 years.
- NUS Venture Support (NVS) organized the Inaugural Singapore TechVenture Showcase in California’s Silicon Valley . The showcase was held from 7 to 9 March 2005 .
